Smart YouTube Blocker Chrome Extension

1. What Data We Collect

Smart YouTube Blocker collects no personal data. The extension stores only the following information, entirely on your local device:

• User preferences — your toggle settings (e.g., hide recommendations, block Shorts) stored via chrome.storage.sync so they sync across your own Chrome devices.
• Timer settings — your configured focus and break durations, stored via chrome.storage.sync.
• Focus time totals — daily focus-session seconds stored via chrome.storage.local on your device only.
• Whitelisted channels — channel handles you choose to allow, stored via chrome.storage.sync.

2. What Data We Do NOT Collect

• No browsing history or URLs visited
• No YouTube watch history or video data
• No personally identifiable information (name, email, IP address)
• No analytics or usage statistics
• No cookies or tracking pixels
• No crash reports or telemetry

3. Data Transmission

The extension makes zero network requests. No data is ever sent to any server, third party, or external service. All processing happens locally in your browser.

4. Data Storage

chrome.storage.sync syncs your preferences across your own Chrome profile via Google's built-in sync infrastructure — the same mechanism used by Chrome's own settings. We do not have access to this data. chrome.storage.local data never leaves your device.

5. Third-Party Services

This extension does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks.

6. Permissions Justification

• storage — Required to save your preferences and daily focus time locally and across your Chrome devices.
• activeTab — Required to apply content filters to the current YouTube tab when the popup is open.
• alarms — Required to fire Pomodoro timer phase transitions reliably, even when the service worker is inactive.
• Host permission (youtube.com) — Required to inject the content script that hides distracting elements on YouTube pages.

7. Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, the updated version will be published at this URL and the "Last updated" date below will change. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
